Dear Small Pawsers,

Gem of the Day: The truth is that it’s just really hard for me to get to sleep without a dog in my bedroom.” ~Jimmy Stewart~

Happy New Year To You All!

It’s that time of year again when donating to your favorite charity may save some money on your final tax bill. (Always check with your CPA or Accountant to find out about your particular case.)

And we have some new rescues and of course new vet bills!

Let me introduce you to the newest Small Paws Rescues!

Subject: Meet jingles intake Wednesday

“Jingles” is estimated to be eight years old. He was a unclaimed stray at Blue Island PD, he is ours now and at our vet. What a doll! He was transported to SPR’s vet by Elf’s Mom!

“Monkey” is estimated to be 4 years old. He was a frequent flier at the Austin City Shelter. (Meaning he had been brought in by animal control as a stray more than once.) His owners surrendered him to the shelter. Volunteers John Friedlander and Thomas Goebel transported him from Austin up to our vet in Roanoke, Texas, near Dallas. He’s a happy boy! Thank you John and Thomas!

Meet 3 year old “Dasher”! He’s being fostered near Chicago. He came out of a shelter near there. He is ALL eyes!

Meet 6 year old Dancer! (Are you starting to see a theme here?) He came from a shelter near Detroit and is being fostered in Michigan.

Meet little “Goose” who came from a Chicago shelter. Goose is at least ten but he has a darling personality. He’s missing some teeth but can still eat! He weighs only 9.9 lbs.

Meet 2 year old “Theo”.  He’s near Tulsa, Oklahoma. He is half Havanese and half Yorkie. We had an emergency with this little one. Thank God for Jan and Rick Battan who went straight away to rescue him. His owner was evicted and the new landlord wouldn’t let her bring him. He was out in the street, literally. It was a Sunday and no shelters were open. We had to take him. And he’s such a good boy.

If anyone would like to help them, we do have one matching donation challenge for $250.00!

It’s from Janet Bartos at jpbartos@sbcglobal.net.

“I want to issue a matching New Year’s challenge for $250.00 in memory of my sweet SPR fluffs, Minnie and Sadie.”

Thank you Janet and I hope someone can match you soon as the clock is ticking right into 2022!

I’m here and will issue all matching donation challenges for our newest six rescues.

Happy New Year!

All My Love, Robin

Humphrey Sisco

Dec 26, 1993~ Aug 30, 2006 Pet Loss Link

When I first saw this beautiful picture of Cheri Sisco’s “Humphrey”, I thought it was truly the epitome of what we do, and why we do it. I wanted to use this black and white picture of Humphrey, taken only days before his death due to congestive heart failure, to let those who may be new to Small Paws, know what we do and why we do it. Without Small Paws, Humphrey would have never known love. He would have died in a kill shelter, sick and alone. Because of Small Paws, and Cheri Sisco, he lived, he loved, and he smiled.

(All recipients of the Small Paws Rescue newsletter receive it voluntarily. Small Paws never gleans e-mail addresses from other e-mail lists. Small Paws never solicits e-mail addresses or shares them with other “lists” or organizations.)
