Matching Donation Challenge for $1000.00 To Pay Our Latest Vet Bills

We have added our Text-to-Donate feature! It’s simple and secure. You can use any major credit card as well as Google Pay and PAYPAL! Text the number 44321 (how easy is THAT number to remember?!) and type the letters SPR ( all capitals) in the message area. A secure link will come up with simple instructions. After that, you can text a donation of any amount to Small Paws anytime without filling out your information again! We hope you enjoy the ease and security of Text-to-Donate, to help the Bichons!

Gem Of The Day: You don’t have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Dear Small Pawsers,

While we continue to work on our Website’s technical issues, (see below) let me assure you that our donation page is secure.

It was NOT made using WordPress and is on a separate secure server. Your donation information is never shared.

While many of you are out of the office or away on vacation, I’m hoping enough of you are around to be able to help the latest rescues.

I’m asking you to take a step on the staircase even though we see just the first few steps.

At the top is a room full of fully vetted Bichons, all waiting for forever homes, possible with one of you!

From one of our long time volunteers, Jackie Kolb, we have this matching donation challenge for $1000.00. Oh my, Thank you Jackie. I hope that someone has been blessed enough to be able to match you!

What Is A Matching Donation Challenge?

“From Jackie Kolb <jskolb225@gmail.com>

Hi Robin! I’ll issue a matching challenge for $1000.  You listed a lot of pups with a lot of needs!!”

If anyone can match Jackie, that would be $2000.00 towards our latest vet bills.

Dear Small Pawsers,

We are here and we have been working. We’ve taking in shelter Bichons as well as owner surrenders.

We’ve had several major technical issues and I want to explain to you what’s  been going on and why you haven’t been getting newsletters.

Our website is now 14 years old. I know. I can’t believe it either.

We won it back in a voting contest back in 2009. It was free, so I guess we have more than gotten our money’s worth out of it.

It’s been a wonderful website for all of these years.

But we learned recently that it is outdated.

Not only in the way it looks, but in the way it operates. The code is outdated and will no longer update.

WordPress is what was used to make our website and a newsletter template for us to use, all of those years ago.

Now, that template is no longer supported by WordPress.

That’s the reason that the fonts weren’t working on our last newsletter.

Constant Contact is helping me to have a template for this newsletter and they will be designing a new template for us to use going forward.

And we’re going to need a new website. I hate it, but the current code isn’t updating correctly.

(If you are a technical type, you will understand.)

In the mean time, I need to let you know about our current vet bills.

These are just two of our latest vet bills. These are from Plainfield Veterinary Clinic near Chicago.

These are vet bills for Bedford, Tiki, Hudson, Violet, Charlie and Capers in the amount of $10,793.64.Violet is receiving addition treatment for high liver enzymes, The other five got complete vetting.

Dr. Blasso gives us a 30% rescue discount.

Even so, vet bills are going up all over the country.

This is one of the few vets who will still bill us.

Most of them require a credit card payment at the time of service, before a dog is even released.

And we’ve gotten even more shelter Bichons and Bichon mixes in from the CACC. Chicago Animal Care and Control.

This is 1-2 year old “Gucci” from a shelter near Chicago. He was found as a stray and was unclaimed by his owner. 🙁

His vetting and quarantine will run between $1700.00- $2000.00.

Help is needed.

I know that it’s dreaded August. August is the worst month for all Non Profits, and we are no exception.

But these precious dogs don’t know about August or vet bills.

I need to be their voice to let you all know.

I will try to send out matching challenges, but if you don’t hear from me for a few days, it’s because we are waiting for our new Newsletter Template from Constant Contact.

I hope I’m explaining about the technical issues correctly. Ugh.

The worst part is not being able to tell you that we need help.

WE NEED HELP.

I’m hoping that this makes it way to you and that it’s readable. All My Love, Robin
