Happy Updates and Pics of Elf, Linus, Sylvie, and Dutch!!

Hello Small Pawsers!

Well, you did it! You responded to four high profile Bichons in their time of need! Here are four happy updates, starting with little Elf, who back in December, was seen being thrown out of a moving car onto the pavement below.

3 year old “Elf” upon arriving at the emergency hospital.

A good Samaritan witnessed this and got him to the shelter. He was micro-chipped but the owner surrendered him to the shelter.

So many of you helped him!

We wanted to keep him in the Witness Protection Program, under the circumstances, since he was a victim of an attempted murder.

Miraculously, a lady police officer, who is also a BICHON MOM, YES YOU READ THAT RIGHT, heard about his story on the news and submitted an application to be a volunteer.

God’s grace has a way of showing up at just the right time!

Elf needed this darling new volunteer and her precious husband, and they needed him just as much at this time in their lives.

Here are some pictures of how he is doing now, and yes, they are of COURSE adopting him right after his last physical therapy session which will be very soon!

“And now, bones with daddy in his chair..” (Editor’s Note: Elf is the one in back and he knows this is HIS family and he is thrilled!)

“Someone got a hold of my flip flop when I was working and destroyed it. Daddy was in the shower and forgot to close the bedroom closet. He still has A TON of puppy in him. He’s making up for it by giving me lots of snuggles😊”

“Helping daddy pick out dinner. This dog is a food hound!”

Dinnertime at his new home. He has another Bichon and a Beesheypoo as siblings, now. (Elf is on the right, I think!) It’s as if he’s always lived there. And a family has grown.

Next, there was Linus. On January 17, he was hit by a car. He had a broken back and spinal cord damage. It took a team of superb veterinary neurologists to put him back together and now he is doing great, walking on all fours!

His foster Mom is a surgical tech at one of the Emergency Hospitals in the Chicago area. She takes Linus to work every day! Now THAT is another God thing!

“Linus is doing great! Still heavily activity restricted and we have a recheck on the 19th for X-rays but so far he is weight bearing on all four limbs and is constantly trying to play so interactive puzzle toys have become our best friends! Linus is a super happy boy and can’t wait until we are no longer on activity restrictions.”

“I bought him a stroller and he enjoys long walks in his stroller most on our days off.”

“He’s a total lover and the happiest of boys!” (Editor’s Note: I believe we have another Foster 101 Failure, here!) Way to go, Linus!

Next, little Sylvie came into rescue with an odd limp and she was in pain.

We took six year old Sylvie to our surgeon who determined she needed hip surgery.

She had that done on Tuesday and is doing well! We expect a full recovery and another Foster 101 failure!

Next, we have 9 year old Dutch! He too was hit by a car. He had a broken leg and his hip wouldn’t stay in the socket. He had to have two surgeries. One was just nine days ago!

“Dutch has been adopted! A new adoptive family who will be coming to Houston to pick him up from Chicago, as soon as he is released by his surgeon to travel. They already have one Bichon named “Stewie”, so Dutch will be getting a new brother!

This sweet boy is doing great!

He had hip surgery nine days ago and he’s already walking around unassisted. He takes

a few short walks a day and likes to nap in between – preferably while having his belly rubbed. We can’t wait to introduce him to his new family!”

Folks, none of this could have happened without YOU! These four lives will go on to touch many more lives for many more years.

We will never be able to thank you for your continued support when these emergencies happen to these precious Bichons.

It was time for a little good news!

Now, we do have another young Bichon, only two years old, named “Simon” who has congenital teeth issues and has to have oral surgery done by a Veterinary Dental Specialist, to get him out of pain. I’ll tell you about little Simon next. 

Uh Boy. Another case of severe neglect just came in on top of that. This is real time, folks. Stay tuned. More to come. All My Love, Robin
