Update on Zoey. She Will Need Overnight ICU Care And a Surgeon to Close her Massive Wounds In The Morning. New Matching Challenges.

Sunday Night June 9, 2019

We have the best that can be expected news on little Zoey who was attacked by two large dogs and almost assumed room temperature. (Please see story and pictures below.)

Our bill is at $1000.00 as of now. The radiologist feels certain that Zoey’s lungs were NOT compromised. That is a life saver right now. That is the power of prayer!

We have given a deposit of $632.60.

They sent this estimate to me in PDF form. It’s the only way I can share it with you.

Click here to see the PDF file including her x-rays. and medical notes. Evidently the shelter took her here yesterday and them took her back to the shelter and called us today.

In order for us to get her through to the morning, the total estimate from the time we brought her in through tomorrow morning is for $3,175.37. This includes the $632.60  we have already aid since we brought her in this afternoon.

This additional estimate will include initial wound care, I.V. pain meds and I.V. fluids and I.C.U Care.

In the morning, they will move her across the hall to the surgeon in order for him to take care of these massive wounds. She will not be needing lung surgery!

We have two matching challenge donations. First from Dawn Bove < d.bove@fcpmllc.com> we have this challenge for $250.00. Is there anyone who can match her? Thank you Dawn!

Hello Robin: I sure hope there’s a bunch reading this Sunday evening. We have to get her patched up.
I will make a challenge for $250.00. Hope someone can match me soon.
As Always sent with Love,
Dawn
And from Deborah Berger at normetski@aol.com we have this challenge for $100.00. Thank you Deborah!

So this is where we are. We have to pay this bill before she can see the surgeon. They have changed their policy as of the first of the month. All bills must be paid in full in one department, before referral to another department. Help is needed for Zoey. It’s a miracle she survived this vicious attack. Robin

Sunday Afternoon, June 9, May 14, 2019

No Gem of the Day. Life or Death Emergency.

I got a call from Sara Rhodes, Team Leader for Illinois. A little one has been attacked by what they said was two large dogs. A Good Sam saw the attack and took her to the CACC shelter in Chicago.

We have named her “Zoey”.

One of our volunteers, Linda Oschenfield, ran over to the CACC get her to rush her to:

Premier Animal Hospital

Orland Park
Emergency service available 24/7/365

7000 W. 159th St.
Orland Park, IL 60462
p: 708-388-3771

This is the wound they are very suspicious of.  They are concerned she may have lung damage internally. They suspect several broken ribs.

They want to do three x-rays, send those off to a radiologist, put on a patch for pain and the emergency room visit. All of this comes to $797.00. I felt you would at least want us to see if we can save her life.

Something tried to kill her.

We MUST find out of If she has internal lung damage. If so, the prognosis is possibly surgical.  But we would need to change treatment plans immediately.

They are supposed to call me back in an hour and a half with the news. I will come and let you all know.

After paying the last two weeks vet bills, we are in the red.

We need help to pay for this initial testing. Right at $800.00. And is anyone even reading this on a Sunday afternoon?

As you know we have seen several dogs that were attacked like this survive and heal. Will Zoey be one of them? W just don’t know. Please pray for her and for funds to come in as soon as possible.

There is no time for challenges. Help is needed immediately.

If you can help, this is how to do this for Zoey. This is urgent and critical. All My Love, Robin

Humphrey Sisco
Dec 26, 1993~ Aug 30, 2006

When I first saw this beautiful picture of Cheri Sisco’s “Humphrey”, I thought it was truly the epitome of what we do, and why we do it. I wanted to use this black and white picture of Humphrey, taken only days before his death due to congestive heart failure, to let those who may be new to Small Paws, know what we do and why we do it. Without Small Paws, Humphrey would have never known love. He would have died in a kill shelter, sick and alone. Because of Small Paws, and Cheri Sisco, he lived, he loved, and he smiled.
