Dear Small Pawsers,

You remember little 3 Year Old Marley, who was hit by a car near Dallas in June.

Thanks to all of you, he had pelvic surgery at the Veterinary Clinic of Athens, just outside of Dallas.

Marley is now being fostered with Kirk and Vicky Taylor. Marley actually has an adoption working now. I can’t believe this is happening.

Today, he went to the groomer’s and this wasn’t happening, then.

After he came home this evening, Vicki and Kirk noticed this.

Click here to see a very graphic picture. Warning. Graphic picture.

I believe that Marley is displaying a prolapsed rectum, which is life threatening.

“Rectal prolapse is easy to see, as the internal organ is visible from outside the anus. It can be either complete or incomplete, with incomplete prolapse only being evident while the dog is straining. In a complete prolapse, the intestinal tissue stays outside of the body. This tissue begins a bright red color, but as the tissue starts to die, it turns blue or black. Tissue death can be fatal for the dog and requires immediate treatment. Veterinary assistance is required to correct rectal prolapse, and a surgeon is needed if tissue death has occurred.”

They put a soft cone on Marley to ride to the ER in.

Kirk is rushing Marley to Medvet Dallas as I type.

They saw Marley there in June, when we first rescued him from the shelter after he was hit by the car.

They know us and we have an account there which includes a rescue discount.

I will need to give them a deposit tonight.

I imagine he will need surgery, if for no other reason than to “push it back in.”

Sorry to be so graphic here, but body parts are body parts.

Marley needs emergency help. No time for matching challenges.

He needs help now. This is a medical emergency.
