Dear Small Pawsers,

We’ve raised enough to vet maybe one half of one of the four Bichons we told you about yesterday. (Scroll down for their stories and pictures!)

I’m not sure which half to vet! (Sometimes I’m very funny. Now isn’t one of them, but I digress…)

We have some new Matching Donation Challenges!

What Is A Matching Donation Challenge?

First, from fellow Small Pawser, Judy DeAngelis at judyadea@gmail.com, we have this generous challenge for $500.00!!!

Oh my! Thank you so much, Judy!

Is there anyone who has been blessed enough to match Judy?

“Hi Robin,

Thanks for the update on the newest rescues to SPR. They are all so cute. Gibbs is a sweet looking guy and please let Doris know I am happy to help if she needs anything for Gibbs. I love his face.

I will issue a matching donation of $500.00.

Thanks for all your help and please keep me updated on Gibbs because he is close to home.

Judy DeAngelis”

Next, from Eileen Boehne at eileen@importingsolutions.com we have a second Matching Challenge for $500.00!!!

Thank you, Eileen!

Is there anyone who can match Eileen?!

“Hi Robin,

Was just thanking God for my two the other day and realized I hadn’t heard from you in a while.

Please issue my matching challenge for $500.00.

Eileen Boehne”

And from my Sister Friend of over 30 years in Oklahoma City, Barbe Von Netzer at forest0000@aol.com, we have this challenge for $100.00! Thank you Barbe!

(I got to spend time with Barbe and Randy last Sunday and Monday. I loved seeing them and their two precious SPR Bichons, my nieces, Daisy and Cloey! And don’t forget the cat, Benny! Achoo! I’m allergic to kitty cats and guess who Benny wants to snuggle?! Of course he does! )

Is there anyone who can match Barbe?! (If you’ve ever been with me for any length of time, you’ve seen the phone ring and texts flying. It’s always about the next Small Paws Rescue Bichon in waiting!)

“Rob,

I’d like to issue a matching challenge of $100. God blessed these precious bichons with Small Paws and your 24 hour on call YOU!!! I’m grateful for the 5 that I’ve adopted through your the years and of course you. Love Barbe”

So that’s where we are now.

Help is needed. All My Love, Robin

Wednesday Evening March 5, 2025

Welcome to those of you receiving the Small Paws® Recue Newsletter for the very first time!

I hope you enjoy the wonderful world of Bichons and the people who love them!

We’ve been doing this important work for almost 27 years now.

God has been so good to us and to the Bichons in our care!

Thank you all for your love and support!

I was notified this week about this little guy, in Phoenix, Arizona. He’s a year and seven months old according to the vet at the shelter.

I named him “Gibbs” because he just looks like a “Gibbs”.

He also has the most unique facial features I think I’ve ever seen on a Bichon.

He was brought into the shelter as an injured animal. No chip. No identification. YIKES!

Call the calvary or us! Same thing!

He had a bandage wrapped so tightly around his front let, that it was causing him to be lame.

After his stray hold, long time Small Paws® Volunteer, Doris Garrison, picked him.

Thank you Doris!

We’ll get him to the vet to get the basics for him to be ready for adoption. I don’t know yet what it will run, but you all know the costs of ever rising vet care.

Next, Meet Taavi and Nilla. A young bonded pair who must be adopted together.

They were owner surrenders near Kentucky, from an owner whose work was keeping her away from home too much.

Taavi is 22 lbs

Nilla is 11 lbs

Taavi is a sweet, rambunctious 2-1/2 year old bichon boy who’s always ready for a game or leashed walk. When he’s ready to relax, he loves to leap into your lap for snuggles and a nap, which is a can be difficult because his baby sister is most likely already snuggled on your lap.

Nilla is 1-1/2 year old little kissing, cuddle bug girl who’s somewhat timid and would let you hold her all day long if you’d like. She is very attached to her big brother and follows him everywhere. She also enjoys leashed walking and mealtime.

Their foster Mom, long time volunteer, Kay Myers, introduces all of her fosters to her horses!

Thank you Kay!

We’ve spent $600.00 on this pair, so far.

Help is needed. You know that we don’t ask unless we need help.

And in South Texas, we received a call from a groomer.

A young female Bichon Havanese was abandoned at her Grooming shop.

The person who dropped her off gave a fictitious name and number.

There were no reports of a stolen dog, and no microchip.

So we’ve taken her into the Witness Protection Program. (No that’s not really her. She’s in WITNESS PROTECTION!)

She needs everything. Vaccinations, Heartworm Testing and Preventative, Fecal exam, and Spaying.

We will need around $800.00 for her.

So we have “Gibbs” in Arizona, “Taavi” and “Nilla” in Kentucky, and the little one in Witness Protection in Texas.

They ALL need your help.

I’m here and will issue all matching donation challenges for these four newest babies!

I’m praying that we can cover everyone’s vet bills in full!

Lastly, I’m sure that you saw the word “Africa” in the subject line of today’s newslettter!

I thought you guys might enjoy this, another of my personal stories about a person friend.

I’d like to give a big shout out to one of my favorite Veterinarians, Dr. Shad Wilkerson D.V.M., and his wife Amy, who now call Senegal, Africa, home.

I’ve known Shad for around 20 years now. ( I was a young blonde child in grade school. That’s my story and I’m stickin’ to it!)

Shad has taken care of many Small Paws® Rescue Bichons over the years, including the world famous Chipper Pressnall, the Bichon who started this magnificent obsession back in May of 1998.

I first met Shad when Chipper was having emergency high blood pressure episode. He was trying with everything he had, to croak. (Chipper, not Shad.)

Of course, Shad saved him, and Chipper lived to be almost 16 years old, which wasn’t bad for a Puppy Mill Bichon who was born with bad body parts, bless his little heart. Chipper, my love. In heaven with Jesus now.

Shad is now a Veterinary Missionary in Africa. Yes, Africa.

One of Shad’s newest projects is going to be feeding and vaccinating and eventually spaying and neutering hundreds of starving street dogs.

You can only imagine.

He called and talked to me about this huge endeavor.

Why? He told me that God told him to do it, and I believe him.

This is a part of the world where dogs are not loved and cherished, as they are here.

I know he’d love it if you checked out their website! ( Yes, they are a 501C3 here in the States. They are good people.)

Shad, I pray all of the blessings of the Lord as you and Amy tell a hurting word about Him, while you are caring for the least among us!

I know you have the prayers of thousands of Small Pawsers as you do this work in Africa.

All My Love, Robin
