Dear Small Pawsers,

First, I want to let you know that “Chevy”, the Dallas Shelter dog with a life threatening bowel impaction, has recovered completely and has placement!

And, little Ivanka, who has an irregular heartbeat, was cleared and has been spayed! The Cardiologists at MedVet said it is benign and won’t cause any issues!

Remember, I told you about long time volunteer, Vicki Taylor, near Dallas, losing her heart dog “Cruiser” to cancer?

Vicki has fostered over 75 foster dogs for Small Paws® Rescue over the last 27 years.

She fostered Ivanka and I’m here to announce that she has “Failed Fostering 101”! Congratulations to Vicki and Kirk on their newest baby girl!

Next, Happy Spring from the land of broken toys! Uh boy.

We’ve taken in 8 Bichons or Bichon mixes in the last couple of weeks and we’re working on taking in another one from Florida.

They are from Texas, Illinois, Ohio, South Carolina, Ohio, and Florida.

We have: Rory, Mango, Sydney, Tallulah, Bernie, Beau, Abby, and Maya.

See the latest Small Paws® Rescue on Petfinder.

First, we have little “Sydney”.

This is Sydney at a shelter, and Sydney after some emergency grooming. (Thank you, Davis Rann!)

He’s a young male from a shelter near Chicago. (Sydney, not Davis.)

Look closely at his little eyes. He has TWO cherry eyes which need surgical repair.

What is a Cherry Eye in dogs?

The estimate for everything for Sydney, is for $2,391,83. As you can see, this includes a generous rescue discount from Dr. Paul Blasso D.V.M. Plainfiled Veterinary Clinic is one of our most reasonable veterinarians. They have been with us for many years.

Then there is little Tallulah. She is an estimated 4 year old female Bichon Mix from a shelter near Chicago.

Tallulah’s estimate for everything, including quarantine, if for $2063.30. This is what we spend on the average Small Paws® Rescue from a shelter.

Next, we have little “Rory”. I named him after Rory Mcllroy who won the 2025 Masters Golf Tournament. He’s an adult Bichon terrier mix.

This is the estimate for Rory’s vetting for $1734.15

I’ll tell you about a couple more of our newest little ones.

We have little 3 year old “Bernie”, near Austin, Texas.

This is a beautiful Bichon who came in as an owner surrender over Memorial Day Weekend.

Bernie has a tail issue. He is GEORGEOUS and has a beautiful tail. But his tail has a wound on it that we are working with veterinarians to heal.

But there is something else. Only in the evenings, his tail will drop and hang lifeless for a few minutes at a time.

We’re trying to get a picture that is good enough quality to show you.

His previous owner said that he’s been this way since she brought him home the first day as a puppy.

We are going to take some films and we may need a neurologist for Bernie’s tail.

I’d say we need $500.00 just to get started with films.

Then we have one of the most unusual dogs that we’ve ever had!

He is a Bichon-Blue Merle Poodle mix, in South Carolina.

He’s 9 month old of pure joy! Are you ready?!

Meet Beau, with one blue eye!

Beau needs to go to a home with older children and a fenced yard.

Beau came in from an older couple dealing with health issues. He came in completely vetted!

Then we have little Mango, He also came in from a shelter over Memorial Day weekend. He is near Chicago.

Mango looks heartbroken.

He is also at Plainfield Veterinary Clinic and Surgery Center. His estimate will be for between $1800-2000.00.

Spring has sprung. So has pollen and homeless Bichons!

So just for Rory, Sydney, Tallulah, Bernie’s Tail, and Mango, we will need $8,686.28. And that’s if we don’t need a neurologist for Bernie’s Tail. ( I feel like one of our rescues is name “Bernie’s Tail”! )

I’m here and will send out any matching donation challenges!

What is a Matching Donation Challenge?

All My Love, Robin
