Dear Small Pawsers,

I want to let you all know that little Lucy had her heart murmur repaired this morning at Medvet, in Columbus, Ohio!

Thaibinh called and said she is doing wonderfully!

Next, I need to talk to you about something really important.

For more than 28 years, Small Paws® Rescue has been blessed with truly extraordinary volunteers…people who have opened their homes, given their time, driven hundreds of miles, comforted frightened Bichons, and helped us to save lives, year after year.

Many of those wonderful volunteers have now reached a point in life where the physical demands of rescue work are simply more than they want or are able to take on, and they have certainly earned the right to step back after giving so much.

Now, we need the next group of caring people to step forward.

We are currently in urgent need of a foster home on Long Island, New York, as well as additional volunteers who are active, dependable, comfortable handling Bichons they don’t know, able to assist with transportation when needed, and have the time, energy, mobility, and flexibility that hands-on rescue work sometimes requires.

There is a 4 year old neutered Bichon who will be homeless in a few days.

If you live on Long Island and have ever thought about fostering or volunteering with us, this may be the perfect time.

You don’t have to be an expert. You simply need a love for Bichons, be dependable, and a have a willingness to help.

We will walk you through everything, step by step!

The Bichons and Bichon Mixes who come into rescue with Small Paws® often have no where else to go.

A foster home can literally be the bridge between uncertainty or even death, and a wonderful new life with people just like yourselves.

After more than 28 years, we are incredibly proud of what all of you have built.

We hope there are caring people in the next generation who will help us carry that legacy forward.

If you think you might be one of them, we would truly love to hear from you.

This is an application to be a volunteer.

You are needed everywhere. In all states. But we really have an urgent need right now on Long Island in NY.
