Dear Small Pawsers,
I hope you all had lovely Holidays and are having a very Happy New Year!
I want to talk to you about something that’s very dear to my heart.
Some of you may not know that any reputable rescue organization or breeder, should ALWAYS take their own dogs back, if something should happen where their owners can no longer keep them.
This is always true with Small Paws® Rescue, for any reason.
We’ve done this for over 26 years now.
It’s even written into our adoption contract, that if for ANY reason, the adopters can’t keep their adopted dog or dogs, they MUST come back to us.
Last summer, one of our Volunteers and Adopters, passed away suddenly at home. He was in his early 50’s. This was very unexpected.
Rene Villegas Obituary
Three days after his death, after the EMT’s arrived, and his body was removed from the house, his three dogs ( two of them were adopted from Small Paws® ) were promptly taken to the local Animal Control Shelter.
I learned about this on a Sunday evening, and I was contacting City Employees at home DON’T ASK HOW I GOT THEIR NUMBERS, telling them this was a 911 situation.
I told them that these were OUR dogs and we were coming for them with cell phones blazing!
That these dogs were used to sleeping in a human bed, and would be in shock after their Dad passed away right in front of them, much less seeing the inside of a shelter.
So, we got all three into rescue, and miraculously, one of you, near Austin, Texas, Volunteer Extraordinaire, Tivra Marks, stepped forward and said, “I’ll take them into Foster Care. I’ll take them all three.”
Gulp.
So we’ve had them in rescue for five months now.
No one has asked to to adopt them all together. 🙁 Everyone has told us that they can’t take all three at one.
Tivra can’t keep them forever. She’s already gone above and beyond. She works and she travels.
We need to find a forever home for them!
In order to try to place them, our Board of Trustees has made the difficult decision to place two of them together as a bonded pair, and one of them as an only dog.
All three of these darling boys are crate trained and house trained at Tivra’s house,
This is from their Foster Mom, Tivra Marks.

Subject: Qua, Zar, and Kamby
“After much contemplation, I think that if necessary, Kamby, could go by himself to a new home (another dog in the home is great, asking as they respect his desire to be an introvert and sleep).
Zar and Qua are definitely friends and should stay together. Kamby spends 90% of his time sleeping, and only comes out of bed for food and love . He is the easiest dog. He does not ever play with Zar or let Zar sleep near him, and Zar plays inappropriately with him and he gets fed up immediately and hides in his crate out of annoyance. Zar and Qua play, snuggle, and like to be together.”
So these are two AMAZING OSCAR WORTHY videos of both Zar and Qua (Pronounced Kay) and of little Kamby.
Are you ready?!
