The Trio Is In A Wonderful Foster Home! One Of Them Needed Emergency Surgery, But She’s Fine Now!

Gem Of The Day: Gratitude is the fairest blossom which springs from the soul.— Henry Ward Beecher

The Trio. Tinkerbelle, Tramp, and Lily on the bottom. In a Foster Home. Together. Tinkerbelle had to have emergency bladder stone surgery on Tuesday, but she got to come home yesterday. There were nine stones inside of her.

Miracles are all around us. When I first learned the story of the trio, I misjudged. I thought a backyard breeder had dumped them at the kill shelter in North Texas.

Then I learned the truth. An adult daughter brought them in because the owner, her Mother, had a terminal illness. 9 year old Tramp, the smiler, and 9 year old Tinkerbelle, behind him,  are the parents of 8 year old Lily, on the bottom. They have been together all of their lives. They are extremely bonded, huddling together as any family would after after a tragedy, losing their home, everyone and everything that they had known all of their lives.

I’ll be honest with you. My brain was telling me that we would never in the world find a place to be able to keep three Bichons of this age together. Then this kicked in, thank you Jesus.

Proverbs 3:5-6

“Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”

I had been leaning to my own understanding of the situation. That it would be impossible to find anyone to foster or adopt THREE older Bichons, and keep them all together.

And then it kicked in, it kicked in automatically, to trust Him. To ask for a miracle, and again He has provided, as He has for the Bichons at Small Paws® for almost 21 years now. Tens of thousands of them.

The Trio now has a wonderful foster home in North Dallas. No one had to wait in a cage to fly across the country, due to the cold temperatures.

He appeared. One of our previous adopters from ten years ago who had adopted a bonded pair back then. One of the dogs has since passed but he has one remaining.

And he took in the trio for foster care. AND HIS NAME IS “ANGEL” and no, I am not kidding. That IS his real name. They are all together and happy at Angel’s home. He has driven to the vet’s office twice, in rush hour traffic, over an hour away. He is giving Tramp his medications for his back that was raw. He is giving Tinkerbelle her antibiotics and pills to make her comfortable after surgery. AND HIS NAME IS ANGEL.

This was the estimate and bill for this emergency surgery. She began urinating pure blood, and a lot of it. Suddenly. Nine stones were removed. She must have been in terrible pain.

But then they took off a rescue discount of $400.00 bringing it to $938.85. We still need $188. 85 to cover that. (We used the airfare donation of $750.00 made by one of you, since they didn’t need to fly, and we put it towards her surgery.)

So the moral of the story is this. First looks can be deceiving, as mine was upon hearing about three bonded senior Bichons in a kill shelter in North Texas.

And.

Proverbs 3:5-6

“Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”

All My Love, Robin

Humphrey Sisco
Dec 26, 1993~ Aug 30, 2006

When I first saw this beautiful picture of Cheri Sisco’s “Humphrey”, I thought it was truly the epitome of what we do, and why we do it. I wanted to use this black and white picture of Humphrey, taken only days before his death due to congestive heart failure, to let those who may be new to Small Paws, know what we do and why we do it. Without Small Paws, Humphrey would have never known love. He would have died in a kill shelter, sick and alone. Because of Small Paws, and Cheri Sisco, he lived, he loved, and he smiled.
