Gem Of The Day: Gratitude is the fairest blossom which springs from the soul.— Henry Ward Beecher
The Trio. Tinkerbelle, Tramp, and Lily on the bottom. In a Foster Home. Together. Tinkerbelle had to have emergency bladder stone surgery on Tuesday, but she got to come home yesterday. There were nine stones inside of her.
Miracles are all around us. When I first learned the story of the trio, I misjudged. I thought a backyard breeder had dumped them at the kill shelter in North Texas.
Then I learned the truth. An adult daughter brought them in because the owner, her Mother, had a terminal illness. 9 year old Tramp, the smiler, and 9 year old Tinkerbelle, behind him, are the parents of 8 year old Lily, on the bottom. They have been together all of their lives. They are extremely bonded, huddling together as any family would after after a tragedy, losing their home, everyone and everything that they had known all of their lives.
I’ll be honest with you. My brain was telling me that we would never in the world find a place to be able to keep three Bichons of this age together. Then this kicked in, thank you Jesus.

Humphrey Sisco
Dec 26, 1993~ Aug 30, 2006
When I first saw this beautiful picture of Cheri Sisco’s “Humphrey”, I thought it was truly the epitome of what we do, and why we do it. I wanted to use this black and white picture of Humphrey, taken only days before his death due to congestive heart failure, to let those who may be new to Small Paws, know what we do and why we do it. Without Small Paws, Humphrey would have never known love. He would have died in a kill shelter, sick and alone. Because of Small Paws, and Cheri Sisco, he lived, he loved, and he smiled.
