Next, from a first time challenger, Mary Jo Barnett, we have this legacy challenge for $100.00. We are so sorry for your loss, Mary Jo. Thank you for making this challenge in honor of your precious Buffy to help the others. Bless both of your hearts. I know right where she is now. In the arms of the King of Kings where the streets are made of gold, and sickness is no more. Neither is death. What a wondrous place our Lord has supplied for us.

Revelation 5: 13 “Then I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and on the sea, and all that is in them, saying: “To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be praise and honor and glory and power, for ever and ever!”

“In memory of Buffy, who went to Heaven yesterday… Forever loved and not forgotten.

Can you please issue a matching challenge?”

We have an update on Cadbury, who was attacked by something and got his freedom ride from a shelter near Chicago, to the loving arms of Small Paws Rescue, yesterday morning.

Lauren, Elf’s Mom, went to get him for us.

“I picked up Cadbury this morning and dropped him off safely at the veterinary clinic. He is SUCH a sweetheart. Just loves being held. He has really. Nice fur too, just needs to be cleaned up. His wounds looked good. I didn’t notice swelling or anything. Then again, I didn’t go poking around or messing with him. Either way, he’s a doll!”

And as I told you yesterday, dear little Poochini, our little “doodle” is still dripping urine. He goes back to the vet tomorrow for a change in antibiotics.

And we have this from our vet about “My, my, myyyyy Delilah”! Please pray these nodules are benign,

“Hello😊. Delilah was done today. She needed 5 teeth extracted. Also, her uterine body looked thickened and was slightly firmer. There were also 2-3 very small yellow modules on the exterior. I submitted it for biopsy just to make sure nothing concerning. Her ear infection is resolved in the left ear but still present in right ear so we are going to extend her medications 2 more weeks and recheck her ears then. We used an otipak for her ear because she is not liking having the ear meds put in twice a day so the otipak is good so foster mom won’t have to do anything topically.”

Yesterday, we raised $1950.00 of the $7000 needed for these five new dogs. Stella needs cherry eye surgery. Poochini is leaking, and Cadbury tried to be lunch for something.

I’m here and will issue any matching challenges that come in. All My Love, Robin

Gem of the Day: “The beautiful spring came, and when nature resumes her loveliness, the human soul is apt to revive also.

~Harriet Ann Jacobs~

Dear Small Pawsers,

This boy is on the way to our vet’s office in Chicago, as I’m type to you this morning.

Meet “Cadbury”.  (Just like the Cadbury Bunny, he only comes in Spring!)

This boy was attacked by something and managed to get away with his very life.

He’s estimated to be only four years old.

These are the notes from the shelter.

“Sedated for wound care: (DKT IM)
BAR! MI approx 4y BCS: 4/9 mm:p/m CRT<2s H?L:norm
Oral: moderate tartar
Ears: AS; pinnae sustained brusing on the inner and outer pinnae.  Mild abrasions to the external ear canal opening that extend caudally to the left maxillofacial region.  The distal ear pinnae appears to have a scab at the margin- left in place as removal would likely lead to bleeding.
ABd: norm
Neuro/ortho: norm
Integ: see ear/maxillofacial abrasions.

Clipped, cleaned, and applied betadine ointment to the wounds.”

Little Cadbury will need the works which will cost around $1200.00 for everything. He will be available for adoption in about 3-4 weeks.

Next, meet 8 year old Theo. He’s under there, somewhere!

He was broken in body and mind. He was rescued by an amazing women named Cindy Marie, from the streets of Chicago. Cindy and several other ladies work daily helping these dogs!
He was a stray, unclaimed, with an eye injury, matted , etc.
Now, he is doing wonderfully, in foster care in Ohio. His bill was over $1400.00. He will be available for adoption, soon! Many thanks to Cindy and her friends for saving him! This is an adoption application.

Next, meet 8 year old “Poochini”!

He was surrendered to a shelter TO BE EUTHANIZED AS IN ASSUMING ROOM TEMPERATURE for urinating in the house. He had a serious UTI and almost lost his life over it. He is just now finishing his antibiotics. GOOD GRIEF WHAT IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE? IF THEY HAD TO SURRENDER HIM, I UNDERSTAND THAT, BUT NOT FOR HIM TO BE EUTHANIZED! Ok. Calming down now. He’s safe with us,

Doesn’t he just LOOK like a “POOCHINI”?! Here, Poochini is being transported to foster care. Look at that smile. (Both of them!)

His bill has also been over $1200.00 so far. I think he’s a “doodle”. All I know is that we couldn’t let him meet that fate over a urinary tract infection! Don’t get me started again!

Next, meet my, my, myyyyy, “Delilah”! Delilah is 8-9 years old and came into the shelter with a severe ear infection with discharge coming from both ears and both eyes. She will be fine with treatment, The vet said she had “grave” dental tarter. Her bill is going to be closer to $1400.00 and she will probably lose some teeth.

Next, meet 2-3 year old Shih-chon (Shih Tzu and Bichon) Stella! Stella came into the shelter with a cherry eye.

She needs eye surgery along with her other vetting. She also had retained baby teeth that had to be removed. She is very “wiggly and excited” according to the vet. Her vet bill will be around $1800.00. So that is about $7000.00 in vet bills, but oh, is it ever worth it! She has a foster home waiting.

Spring is in the air! So are vet bills!

This is how to help Cadbury, Theo, Poochini, Delilah, and little Stella.

I’m here and will issue all matching challenges.

We also have this note of thanks from Regina McCoy. We are praying for you Regina. (Regina is one of our application processors.)

“Thank you so much to the Small Paws Rescue family for the outpouring of
support on my Dad’s (Joe McCoy) tribute wall. It was comforting reading
all the comments and acknowledgments of his service to his country and
his patriotism. My sister was overwhelmed by the support; she forgets
how large the SPR family is. 🙂

Hug your fluffs and hug your Dad’s.

Thanks again,

Humphrey Sisco

Dec 26, 1993~ Aug 30, 2006 Pet Loss Link

When I first saw this beautiful picture of Cheri Sisco’s “Humphrey”, I thought it was truly the epitome of what we do, and why we do it. I wanted to use this black and white picture of Humphrey, taken only days before his death due to congestive heart failure, to let those who may be new to Small Paws, know what we do and why we do it. Without Small Paws, Humphrey would have never known love. He would have died in a kill shelter, sick and alone. Because of Small Paws, and Cheri Sisco, he lived, he loved, and he smiled.

(All recipients of the Small Paws Rescue newsletter receive it voluntarily. Small Paws never gleans e-mail addresses from other e-mail lists. Small Paws never solicits e-mail addresses or shares them with other “lists” or organizations.)
