Wednesday Night, February 18, 2026

Dear Small Pawsers,

Tomorrow Morning, Thursday, February 19, Henry will go to the Veterinary Neurologist for his MRI to find out what is wrong with his hind end after being hit by a car.

It may take a few days before we have an answer.

Thank you to everyone who donated so he can have these important tests.

Next, I know that many you have been concerned for me after losing my heart dog, Reagan Pressnall on January 5, 2026.

Reagan was 15 years and a half years old. He had advanced dog dementia.

Our time of him having quality of life had come to an end.

I grieved for him like I have never grieved for anyone or anything, in my whole life.

After 5 weeks of tears, I began to open my heart to the possibility of another dog, that would be mine. Possibly one that I could train to be another Service Animal, like Reagan was.

I hope you all can understand this, because you know I’ve devoted my life to the rescue and care of Bichons. I will ALWAYS do whatever it takes to save a Bichon. No matter what.

But I just didn’t want to look down at a new dog, and have them look so much like Reagan. Every Bichon I saw looked like Reagan and it would all come flooding back to me.

I began to look on Adopt-a-Pet for adult “whatever-a-poos”, with rescue and in shelters all over the country.

It could be anyone, as long as they didn’t shed, (Yes, I’m allergic to dogs. I know, right?) or look like Reagan.

I began to apply to adopt, over and over again, 11 times, only to be told that this one or that one was already adopted and wasn’t available.

Somewhere in between all of those applications, I applied to adopt from a rescue group in Illinois, just outside of Chicago.

I knew that I knew that I knew, that he too, would be already adopted, and I would just continue my quest.

Are you ready? You’re going to love this story!

Please join me in welcoming “Oliver Pressnall”, a 14 week old Bichon Havanese puppy mill rescue from Jellystone Rescue Rangers, a licensed 501C3 rescue in Yorkville, Il.

His color is white with lavender and he has green eyes!

I was specific in my prayer. I asked God that if there was a dog who needed me, to please help us to find each other. And I told God that I knew it couldn’t be a perfect dog, but could it please be pretty close?

On Saturday morning, February 7, the phone rang on bright sunny day, here in Tulsa.

It was their Executive Director, Kim Morgan. She told me that I’d been approved to adopt this baby and I couldn’t speak or answer her. I was speechless.

Come to find out, Oliver was a “breeder release” from a commercial kennel, because he missed the deadline to be sent to the broker and on to the pet shop.

Yes, Pet Shop puppies come from one place. Puppy mills. They have to be able to buy puppies in bulk, and “family raised in our home” puppies aren’t going to be able to supply hundreds of puppies to pet shops.

If anyone tells you differently they are not being honest with you.

So when my voice came back, I asked Kim if who I am and what I do, had anything to do with her decision.

That’s when she told me that it had everything to do with it.

Then she told me that she knows Small Paws® and she knew me and she has for 22 years.

You see, 22 years ago, we got a pom puppy out of puppy mill in Ohio.

That wasn’t our breed, so we turned her over to another reputable rescue.

Guess who adopted her? Kim Morgan. Executive Director of Jellystone Rescue Rangers.

Small Paws® Rescue’s name was on her puppy’s paperwork.

Since that time, Kim, along with her volunteers, have rescued over 85,000 dogs and puppies in the last 22 years, of all breeds.

Now, she had a Bichon Havanese baby and he was to be mine.

Last weekend, I flew to Chicago and I drove to Lauren Throm’s beautiful home. Lauren is one of our Board Members.

She and her husband, and their two darling boys, hosted me for the weekend.

Lauren and the boys came with me to pick up Oliver.

Here are those first pics.

On the way home to Lauren’s house. No I’m not a red head. Must have been the sun. Oliver is a beautiful color!

Lauren and I went out to lunch on a warm sunny day which was unusual for Chicago! Yes, the baby went with us!

And this baby is smart as a whip! He watches TV!

Oliver watches the news and doesn’t like the bad guy!

Oliver doesn’t like the wolf!

Psalms 30:5 says “weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.”

I was believing that even while mourning my best boy, Reagan.

God has been so good to me.

I have a healthy baby to start a new season.

And I’m more grateful than I can even express.

All My Love, Robin
