Gem Of The Day: “Dogs are wise. They crawl away into a quiet corner and lick their wounds and do not rejoin the world until they are whole once more.”
~ Agatha Christie ~
Theo and Kate are both doing wonderfully now after their dental visit yesterday! Unfortunately, Little Theo lost all of his teeth as he was diagnosed with a terrible dental disease which causes continual open sores in the mouth called CUPS.
It is a rare disease and we have had three CUPS dogs in the past year!
Kate lost several teeth and had the beginnings of CUPS but we caught it in time!
Within hours the two were already healing and feeling better, so much that they were lapping softened canned food like they were starving. They stayed all night at the hospital and were ravenous again this morning! They are back for a few days at our veterinarian’s office. Thank you to everyone who helped them! I believe their true personalities will come out now!
Many thanks to Julie Lyne for driving from Chicago to Wisconsin and staying two nights in a hotel in order to save funds for Small Paws. The local dentists were 2-3 times the price! Thank you, Julie!
All My Love, Robin

When I first saw this beautiful picture of Cheri Sisco’s “Humphrey”, I thought it was truly the epitome of what we do, and why we do it. I wanted to use this black and white picture of Humphrey, taken only days before his death due to congestive heart failure, to let those who may be new to Small Paws, know what we do and why we do it. Without Small Paws, Humphrey would have never known love. He would have died in a kill shelter, sick and alone. Because of Small Paws, and Cheri Sisco, he lived, he loved, and he smiled.
