Late Tuesday Night December 17, 2019
Little Elf had his surgery today and his Board Certified Surgeon, Dr. Arron Jackson at Medvet Chicago, said it went really, really well. We just love him!
He was in surgery all afternoon and into the evening with Elf. Oh! And we learned that he is only two years old, not three! (Elf, not the surgeon.)
Post Op Picture of Elf.
Elf was the victim of an attempted murder and there is a rock solid eye witness.
I wouldn’t want to be that person who did this, as it is only a matter of time before they are caught and prosecuted for felony animal abuse.
They have the make and color of the vehicle and there were security cameras.
Does anyone think I won’t fly up there and testify to this dog’s injuries in front of God and everybody?
I have been deemed as an exert witness in a court of law in the care and custody of Bichons.
The person who did this has messed with the wrong rescue organization. If you don’t believe me, just hide in the bushes and watch.
So many people are sickened at what happened to this baby. Can you imagine if someone did this to YOUR dog?A person who would do this to a dog should not be trusted with a child. And they probably don’t want to meet my husband, Mr. Small Paws, Bichon lover extraordinaire, either.
One of our Small Paws Volunteer Foster homes is near the hospital. She went over tonight to get the picture for you all.
And we DO have some good news. A DOGGED reporter is working on getting the security footage of the intersection where and when this happened. They are ON IT!
First tonight, we have a second matching donation challenge, this time for $500.00 from Beverly Seffel at beverlyseffel@yahoo.com. Thank you again,Beverly. Elf thanks you and hopes there is someone who can match you!
Next, we have this challenge for $250.00, from Doug Ressler at doug.ressler@yardi.com. Thank you Doug! I hope someone can match you for our little almost murdered Elf.
“We offer a Matching Challenge of $250.00 to help Elf. Doug”
Folks, Elf is a miracle.
He is our third “thrown from a moving vehicle intentionally” dog this year.
First we had Pongo and Pipper in South Texas. Thanks to many Good Sam’s, all have survived.
Elf will have the life he so deserves. What a gift. And at Christmas Time. The time of the greatest gift ever. All My Love, Robin

Gem Of The Day: STILL No Time For A Gem Of The Day. We Have A Medical Emergency. A Bichon Was Thrown From A Car In Chicago. A Witness Brought Him To the CACC Shelter. We now understand he has a broken hip and broken pelvic bone and they are evaluated him for a broken left pelvic limb as well. He needs surgery NOW. Help is needed. I received a PDF file with an estimate for between $7000-$8000. And you know if the high end is $8000.00 it will be probably $8500. It may be later tonight when they do surgery. They are working him in. They do tell me he IS fixable.
We have the following matching donation challenges for this little Elf who has a broken hip and broken pelvic bone or a broken leg.
First, from Mike and Cindy Bush, at mbush@flash.net, we have this generous challenge for $1000.00. Is there anyone who is blessed enough to match this challenge? We would be a fourth of the way there! Thank you Mike and Cindy!

Three year old “Elf” was THROWN FROM A MOVING CAR on a busy city street in Chicago.
He had a microchip but the owners chose to surrender him to the shelter a few minutes ago.
He has a new name and a new life now that he has found his way to Small Paws Rescue and you.
No, We don’t know who threw him from the car. The witness was probably more interested in saving his life than getting the license tag. I know I would be.
He is NOT incontinent, both ways, thank God!
He is ours now and he needs immediate surgery. Help is needed to save him. He is presently at Medvet Chicago. The surgeon is on stand by.
They have given an estimate of between $7000.00 and $8000.00 which includes a 10% rescue discount. These orthopedic surgeries are not inexpensive, but he is only three years old!
I’m here and will issue all matching challenges but we are in a hurry!
A precious Christmas Elf is broken and needs to be put back together! All My Love, Robin

Humphrey Sisco
Dec 26, 1993~ Aug 30, 2006 Pet Loss Link
When I first saw this beautiful picture of Cheri Sisco’s “Humphrey”, I thought it was truly the epitome of what we do, and why we do it. I wanted to use this black and white picture of Humphrey, taken only days before his death due to congestive heart failure, to let those who may be new to Small Paws, know what we do and why we do it. Without Small Paws, Humphrey would have never known love. He would have died in a kill shelter, sick and alone. Because of Small Paws, and Cheri Sisco, he lived, he loved, and he smiled.
