Meet 4 Month Old "America" named in honor of the 4th of July. She was born on 2/19/05 and she weighs 5 pounds. She was recently rescued from an Amish Puppy Mill.

This will be our 27th
Heart Murmur patient.
We have done this life saving surgery 26 times before.
The Heart Murmur Reunion Page

When we lost MIKEY in New York, after attempting the coil technique there, I promised myself that with all other heart murmur Bichons, I would just fly them down to Texas A&M where we have had success after success.

(Two of our Heart Murmur Babies were taken to Texas A&M and were not candidates for the surgery. They were Chevy and June.)

I will fly little America down to Texas A&M University Vet School where the experts reside.
We have an appointment for tomorrow, June 28th, 2005, for America at at 12:00 p.m. with Dr. Sonya Gordon. They are going to have to work us in, as this is an emergency.

Can you turn on your heart light once more for little America? Her surgery will run right at $2000.00 in order to save her life.

More later from Texas A&M University.

Update: Tuesday Night from Texas A&M University

America does indeed have a grade six PDA. They are going to attempt to coil her tomorrow. We haven't gotten the results of her tests today, so we don't know if she is wet (in congestive heart failure) or not.

We do know she doesn't feel one bit good.

4th Year Vet Student, Kyle Horien, examines our baby girl. She doesn't even stand up, she is just so tired. Her eyes don't look good to me.

Cardiologist, Dr. Sonja Gordon listens to the murmur.

My best gal pal down at Texas A&M... Lucy Wendt holds little "America". They were all calling her "Miss America."

Surgery may be late tomorrow. They have SIX of them to do tomorrow and they are working our baby girl in. As soon as I know something...I will come and tell you! Love, Robin

UPDATE: WEDNESDAY NIGHT 6:32 P.M. Central Time

America is doing wonderfully! She is out of surgery! They were able to coil her! She was a perfect candidate for it!

Pics to follow later on tonight! She made it! Now she will have a normal life with a normal life span! God Bless America!!! Thank you God and Thank You Small Pawsers!

The Surgery Begins

Don't worry..she's asleep!:)

Anesthesia

The doctors watch the floroscopy video machines...to watch the coil travel up to the heart, thus forming a blood clot which becomes permanent tissue, and fixing the hole in her heart!

Afterwards...waking up!

Turn on Your Heartlight
By Neil Diamond

Come back again
I want you to stay next time
Cause sometimes the world ain't kind
When people get lost like you and me

I just made a friend
A friend is someone you need
But now that he has to go away
I still feel the words that he might say

Turn on your heartlight
Let it shine wherever you go
Let it make a happy glow
For all the world to see

Turn on your heartlight
In the middle of a young boy's dream
Don't wake up too soon
Gonna take a ride across the moon
You and me

He's lookin' for a home
Cause everyone needs a place
A home's the most excellent place of all
And I'll be right here if you should call me

Turn on your heartlight
Let it shine wherever you go
Let it make a happy glow
For all the world to see

Turn on your heartlight
In the middle of a young boy's dream
Don't wake up too soon
Gonna take a ride across the moon
You and me

Turn on your heartlight now
Turn on your heartlight now
